Thinking of an method to get my wife to think about the organization.......
by insearchoftruth inam still trying to come to a course of action to deal with my wife and her renewed zeal for the wts.
one new detail that i find interesting is she was assigned a sister to study with and the gal called somewhat early yesterday morning and my wife chewed her up and told her she does not want to study with her, she want so study with sister whatever.
i am sure that the sister that called was somewhat taken aback by this.. i think a slant i may be able to use is the anointed/fds since my wife really did not know anything about this and especially since she gave me the phone when she was talking to the first sister she knows and i asked her some questions and she confirmed that they were one in the same as well as how people can fall from being anointed by not be 'faithful'.

Reading the New Testament (Christian Greek Scriptures) without the "aid" of propaganda should do the trick!
-Terry, i've heard this many times before, but does it matter whether you use the NWT or any other version? and if it has to be a different one, how can you convince them to use that one in the first place?
-BTS, good site indeed!

Sisters who dared to take the lead...
by zeroday ini was out in service during a week day with a car group of sister pioneers...very few brothers went out in the week...we had 6 people and i was the only male...we arrived at our street and the head sister pioneer turned to everyone and said, "ok you 2 start at this end, you 2 start on the other side and work this way and me and bro (myself) will start here...she then got a horrified look on her face and turned to me and said, "if that's ok with you"...i just said, "sounds good to me"...at that moment i thought how sad she had to defer to my so called headship...

this fricken 9 year old kid who got baptized and suddenly these women had to differ to this kids "headship" when he led the group
that's sooooo unrational it's not even funny.. probably the week before, when he wasn't baptized yet, he just tagged along with those same sisters who were then just pulling him along by the ear.
it just makes it really awkward for all.

The evolution of the INVISIBLE JESUS doctrine: a TIMELINE
by Terry inwilliam miller (1782-1849), preached that the second coming of jesus christ would occur some time between march 21, 1843 and march 21, 1844. .
miller was invited to preach his "proofs" to churches in many locations.
many heard and became convinced.. millers followers may have numbered as many as 100,000. .

Very interesting info Terry! So then how did Rutherford take over? how seamless was the transition?

the whole brothers-taking-the-lead thing always seemed a little stupid to me, especially when it's applied to the minute details, like your example of sending the pairs to the doors in FS. as if sisters, just because they're sisters, can't read adresses and/or figure out how to divide a street up. 1800's much.

by mattbetrayed inwent to a convention to keep the wife happy but so glad i did as they still are saying that they are the only ones to be saved the rest of us all dead and that the young ones should not get educated but be pioneers dont get jobs but further the wtbs way of life have nothink like christ but they have the best things the life they have in the bethel is good best food etc good cars they dont have to pay for they are real false prophets just cult masters nothing else i try to show my wife that these people are false but to me it is superstitionon her part makes me sick they are still banging on about the end of the world and that god is going to kill us all i have never belived that my god of love would do that why send your son our saviour if you want kill the whole planet save a few noway .

well of course.. if ever they'd say "actually brothers, we've calculated that the end won't be for at least another ten years".. then everyone would take a hiatus.

i recently was turned on to southern comfort and sprite and really like it, but would prefer something without soda in it.

Are Fridges for Christians?
by Satanus indispite their popularity, christians should rethink their stand on fridges.
firstly, they used by jesus and first century christians.
neither did god's chosen people of old use them.

ha this is hilarious!
so.. since reading the article, i've unplugged my fridge and started using it as extra cupboard space. this way it doesn't go against the essence of keeping food for more then one day, but still some have labelled me "bad-ass ociation" because i'm still displaying the image of a fridge-user.. what to do?

Will the WTBTS ever become mainstream like the WWCG?
by donny inback during the 80's and 90's, i occasionally heard statements lumping the society in with the likes of the worldwide church of god who had very similar teachings and even believed in 1975 as being a year that god would act (1975 in prophecy!
by herbert w. armstrong).
clearly the roots of the wwcg were from the same as the societys and both groups were viewed as cults.

i dunno.. i think it might become somewhat more mainstream in the future. whereas the "official" version as fed by the GB remains hardcore, it seems to me the younger generation is caring less and less about the details and there's a much more open minded attitude in many. also with the shortening of the sunday meeting and elimination of the bookstudy and talk of more changes to come, the load is lightening and will give dubs more time to just take it easy.
some time ago on a different thread on here, someone posted something to the effect of that they think that in 50 years from now there will still be a group called "jehovah's witnesses", but that they'll practically be unrecognizable from the same group today, with no more organised field service and stuff like that. i thought that was interesting, and to a certain extent i believe it's my opinion as well.
